Revival Looms is a Toronto-based resource for designers and architects looking for handmade rugs with a direct connection to the people who make them.

James Riach has worked with rug makers across India and Nepal for more than two decades, developing product, managing production and solving the practical problems that come with handmade goods. Revival Looms brings that experience to custom projects with a deliberately personal approach.

Experience at the source

Our work begins with long-standing relationships. Rather than designing at a distance and handing a project into an anonymous supply chain, we work directly with weaving partners and stay involved through colour, construction, sampling, production and finishing.

That practical knowledge matters. Handmade rugs are not manufactured objects with perfectly predictable inputs. Materials move differently, colour behaves differently from fibre to fibre, and the character of a rug depends on the decisions made at every stage. Knowing what to ask, what to watch and when to intervene is part of the work.

Built for the design trade

Revival Looms does not operate as a conventional retail showroom. We work through swatches, samples, drawings and project conversations, helping designers specify the right construction, material, colour and scale for a space.

Our aim is simple: make the custom process knowledgeable, transparent and useful, while preserving the hand and individuality that make these rugs worth making.
